The 80 Days Tour encompasses both the 40 Day Northern Highlights Tour and the 40 Day Southern Splendour Tour as well as the 20 European Experience Tour.
This would surely have to represent the antithesis of a tour, in that most would have a duration of one or two weeks, this is EIGHTY FABULOUS DAYS, (just under 12 weeks) circumnavigating the globe. We are sure you will have heard of the film, “Around the World In 80 Days”, well we do just that, BUT NOT BY BALLOON - lol. Here is a quick synopsis, showcasing some of the ardent, stunning places, (and events) which you can expect to relish in, after signing on with our group:
Our first port of call is one of the most popular destinations for Australians and Kiwis - Los Angeles, where our plane touches down around 10.30am local time. Waiting to greet us is our driver for our first tour of this famous city. Our first night as a group has us staying on the very distinguished and legendary Queen Mary cruise ship, anchored at Long Beach California. After a hearty breakfast it's onto Las Vegas, San Francisco, Seattle and northbound across the border to the beautiful city in its own right Vancouver - Canada. After Vancouver we traverse eastbound to Toronto and down to the magnificent, renowned and "world acclaimed", Niagara Falls. Then it's back over the border to, "the city which never sleeps - New York." From here we cross to Europe, visiting Rome, regarded as the "Eternal City". We are able to wallow and immerse ourselves in some of the world’s finest art collections and architecture, fully appreciating Michelangelo's magnificent frescoes, located in the Sistine Chapel, at the Vatican. Onward-bound to Venice, the world of water, where we get a totally different perspective on how people move around. At St Moritz, we get to rub shoulders with the rich and famous, (last time we were there both Mel Gibson and Madonna were in town.) this is also where we board the "spectacular & breathtaking" Glacier Express train trip = with absolutely stunning scenery, travelling "FIRST CLASS". (Make sure you have your camera with you) This has us soup-coning the peaks of the Swiss Alps, with our final destination, (nestled high in the mountaintops) Zermatt, world-renown for it's world famous ski resort and remarkable, panoramic/dramatic views of the awesome Matterhorn. From Switzerland we move onto the spectacular German city of Munich with our first port of call the very "eye-catching" Nymphenburg Palace and Gardens, punctilious in presentation (the birthplace of Mad King Ludwig II) BUT, in our opinion even more spectacular would have to be both his creations of the "fairy-tale" castles of Schloss Linderhof and Neuschwanstein - absolutely breathtaking. ALSO as a very special treat, we will tour the headquarters of the International BMW Car Assembly Plant, inspecting how their famous cars are made and assembled.
Two of our very favourite destinations would have to be Salzburg & Vienna - Austria. The hills (and valleys) are alive, when we visit Salzburg, retracing the filming of that iconic and academy award-winning 1965 movie/musical, "The Sound of Music", which was the final musical written by the famous team of Rodgers and Hammerstein. In Vienna we visit The Spanish Riding School, this is the oldest and last Riding School in the world where classic dressage is still practised in its purest form. THEN! we inspect the fabulous showrooms of Schönbrunn Palace, in all its glory - the 18 carat gold splashed around the walls like water and the vast main courtyard ruled by a formal design of impeccable order and rigorous symmetry, every part stylistically compliments every other. From Austria we continue eastbound to the beautiful city of Budapest, where we soak up the cultural wonders of Hungary and onto Prague - The Czech Republic, home of the Bohemia Crystal. By contrast, down the road Frankfurt has a most imposing skyline and home to Europe's largest stock exchange, also regarded as the international financial base for the European Central Bank. We deviate (on a day tour) to the well-preserved medieval old German town of Rothenburg, through the picturesque Spessart Mountains. At Rothenburg we make a visit to what must be the largest Christmas Museum and store in the world IT'S A MUST! Onward bound we cross the channel touching base with Denmark, calling in on Copenhagen, a striking city, ruled by the Danes. It's "ALL ABOARD" at Copenhagen for our transfer to Stockholm - Sweden, on the high-speed tilting train X 2000, travelling "FIRST CLASS", reaching speeds over 200 kph. From Sweden our mode of transport changes at this point to an "inter-island ferry" crossing the Baltic Sea, (overnight) taking us to Helsinki, the capital of Finland where Eastern and Western cultures meet.
Russia!!! - A country of immense diversity with a population of nearly 150 million people and featuring in land area, as the largest nation in the world, with 17,075,400 sq. km of land. It has borders with Korea, China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Norway. Here we do a fabulous ten day tour, starting at St Petersburg, regarded as the jewel in Russia’s crown, with the Palace and Gardens of Peterhof (also known as Petrodvorets), followed by Moscow, where we saunter through the well-known "Red Square", marvel at St Basil’s Cathedral and the Kremlin. Then, onward bound we visit one of the most fascinating regions in the country, 'somewhat off track - the famous Golden Ring' cities located to the northeast of Moscow. This ancient heart of Russia with its old whitewashed city walls and venerable onion-domed churches created the world's definition of medieval Russia. Walking the streets of Suzdal feels like we are stepping back into the time-tunnel, in this enchanted region where time appears to have stood still. Streets thronging with houses, monuments and churches from all different eras, with strikingly different architectural styles. The main currents of history ignored these cities, leaving towns such as Vladimir, Suzdal, Sergiev Posad, Rostov Velikiy, and Yaroslavl as quaint and perfect as when they were first constructed. Unfortunately and sadly, this is where some of our group leave us to return back to either Australia or New Zealand.

Our travels now change in direction, as we take the compass course of south, dropping in on the oldest unmistakably ancient Olympic city in Europe, Athens - it even remains today a city of contradictions, as frustrating as it is seductive, in the process we capture a cruise out to the Greek Islands.
Leaving Asia, (temporarily) a total change envelopes as we transfer down to Egypt, (in the Middle East) to take in the gigantic pyramids at Ginza and the "mysterious" Sphinx. Add to that two nights cruising the Nile. (if it's sun you want then make sure you bring some suntan lotion) From here it's onto Johannesburg - Cape Town and the famous "Garden Route", an area of unspoilt beauty and majesty, quite unlike any other region in Africa, the great wildlife reserves of the Kruger National Park - South Africa. Here we spend time getting close to the animals, NAMELY, THE BIG FIVE - Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo & Rhino, animals which we are only ever able to see in zoos, here they are in their own natural environment - nature showcased at it's very finest - perhaps a never to be repeated opportunity, for you! (Your probably going to be spell-bound, with your camera working overtime.) AND IT CERTAINLY DOESN'T END HERE!!! Our flight takes us onto India in search of those beautiful Bengal Tigers, in the Ranthambore National Park and the world heritage listed Taj Mahal, carved out of white marble - it took 22 years to complete. Interestingly, the Taj Mahal attracts 2-4 million visitors annually.
The pace changes at this point, as we continue east-bound to Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore, all very important stops, particularly for our bargain hunters. You can choose just to shop or join us as we continue taking in the remarkable landscapes. THEN!! it’s our Singapore Airlines night flight to Christchurch, where we abscond to Hanmer Springs - a lovely alpine village nestled in the North Canterbury forests. This is where you get to finally unwind, relaxing in the fabulous thermal pools, letting your body revitalize and rejuvenate, back to reality. It's also where we (as a group) have our final banquet together, recounting the wonderful (eighty - 80 or 40 days) that have passed. At around 4.30pm on Friday the 8th of November 2013, we will board our last flight bound for Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. Yes, unfortunately when those wheels touch back down, it brings to a closure an unforgettable and fabulous global experience. SADLY IT IS THE END! –
We do sincerely hope you are tempted?
